We are NOT accepting new patients at this time. We expect to resume September 15, 2017.
When we resume in September, we will be accepting patients using out of network (private pay) or BCBS only. We see adults age 20-65 only. Please call 512-690-2075 and select the option for new patients. Provide your contact information, insurance information if appropriate, and whether you currently have a primary care provider or therapist. Alternately, you can fax this info to our secure fax line 512-259-3576. We typically can call (when we are accepting new patients again) to review availability within 1-2 business days upon receipt of your information. Keep in mind we are not in the office on Fridays. We do not accept walk-ins or same day appointments. If you have an urgent matter, utilize the crisis resources.
We desire for patients to begin psychiatric care in a timely manner. During certain seasons, Dr. Rickenbacker's practice becomes busier than others, and openings for new patients may not be available for more than one month. Rather than book patients months in advance, we choose to close the practice to accepting new patients until such time as we can schedule your initial appointment within 30 days.
You are responsible for understanding the limits of your insurance coverage, to include deductibles. We are only in-network with Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, ComPsych, and some Seton Insurance plans at this time. If your insurance card references Value Options, Optum, Pacificare (or others) for behavioral health, this would be out-of-network, and you would be responsible the cost of the visit at the time of your appointment. We will happily provide you a claim form which you can submit to your insurer if you have out-of-network benefits.
Be advised that Dr. Rickenbacker does not attest to psychiatric disability during initial visits and will not continue it simply because your last provider initiated it. Also, Dr. Rickenbacker does not routinely recommend long-term use of daily benzodiazepine medication (trade names include Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, among others). She can work with you to create a plan to taper off these medications safely. Please consider this before scheduling your initial appointment.
